Bhutan's Literary and Artistic Tapestry Unfolds at 13th DLAF

Bhutan is set to host the 13th edition of its renowned Drukyul Literature and Arts Festival (DLAF) from August 3rd to 5th. This year's theme, "Enlighten, Evolve, Evoke," promises a rich exploration of Bhutan's cultural heritage and its contemporary relevance.

The festival, held under the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen Mother, is organized by Bhutan Echoes. It aims to foster a deeper understanding of Bhutanese culture through literature, art, and thought-provoking discussions.

Festival Director Sonam Wangmo Drukpa-Jhalani envisions DLAF as a platform for personal growth and cultural reflection. This aligns perfectly with Bhutan's unique philosophy of Gross National Happiness, which prioritizes well-being and harmony.

The event boasts a stellar lineup of artists, including Bhutanese contemporary art’s leading figure Zimbiri and renowned children's book author Ugyen Dorji. International acclaim comes with Swiss illustrator Johanna Schaible, whose work has garnered global recognition.

A diverse range of speakers, from India's Sudha Murty to Korea's Anton Hur, will share their insights on literature, culture, and society. The festival also offers a variety of workshops, from writing and translation to yoga and flamenco, catering to diverse interests.

DLAF 2024 will be held at the Royal University of Bhutan, Convention Auditorium, Thimphu, from August 3rd to 5th.
